A record-once, replay-on-a-hotkey tool for a repetitive annotation workflow.
Rivian's autonomy annotation work repeated the same few input sequences all day, and fixing that wasn't anyone's job. As an operator on the pipeline, I built a zero-install Windows tool on my own time that records a sequence once and replays it on one hotkey.
The same handful of input sequences, over and over, and fixing it wasn't anyone's job.
Anything I ran more than three times became a hotkey: raw input recorded with exact timing, saved to a named slot.
AutoHotkey, already on the machine: no install, no dependencies, live feedback per slot, and a STOP combo.
3–5× faster across tasks at 99.9% accuracy. Validated with the autonomy engineering team, staged for deployment, every SOP written.
What I claim
- Measured, not estimated. I hand-timed the baseline first. One task went from 30.14s by hand to 6.34s; across the task mix, 3–5× faster.
- Accuracy held. 99.9% is the error rate with the tool, measured against the standard error rate. Speed didn't cost quality.
- Built, validated, documented. Validated with the autonomy engineering team against their quality workflows and staged for deployment, with every SOP and onboarding doc written. It was not rolled out, so I claim the build and the handoff, not adoption.
- Right-sized. AutoHotkey was already on the machine: no install, no dependencies, no permissions fight. In-memory recorded sequences, no database.
